About
Hi, I’m Karina Sharpe, an Australian visual artist working in photography, still life, florals, print and emotion.
My work often begins with something ordinary. A flower. A surface. An object. A shift of light. I’m drawn to the quiet charge these things can hold, the nuances of their appearance, the shifts that occur when they are combined, and how their presence can be captured with symbolism.
I produce from my studio on the Sunshine Coast in Queensland, Australia. I am positioned very close to the beach in a town with a laid back, happy vibe. The sky is big here and bird sounds are an ever-present soundtrack.
Most people reading this will have found their way here looking for artwork. If that is you - hello. I am a real person, and all of the works you see are made and captured by me. You can explore available prints, canvas pieces and original works through the store, with new releases added as they become available.
"As an artist, I feel my duty is to make work that takes you to a place you didn't know you needed to go and return you feeling more whole than when you left. "
- Karina Sharpe
I care about the way my work meets you, the way it leaves you and the way it evolves with you over time.
Before devoting more of my practice to image-making and art, I trained in Industrial and Mechanical Engineering. That background still shapes the way I see. It gave me a lasting sensitivity to structure, proportion, materials and precision, as well as a unique blend of creative resourcefulness and ingenuity, all of which continue to move through my work.
I’ve also spent more than a decade creating commercial imagery across product, still life and ecommerce contexts. Over the years, I’ve created visual work for brands, editorial projects, publishing, book covers and concept-led campaigns. That experience has made me attentive to both feeling and function. I continue to work with selected clients and collaborators where there is a strong creative fit. If this is why you are here, hello! you can contact me directly for artist collaborations, media opportunities or industry enquiries or jump through to my client section for information about custom brand imagery, editorial or publishing projects, visual campaigns, still life work.
To me, nothing is ordinary.
