Artwork story

Liquorice allsorts always take me back to my grandpa. He would share them with me, although I was never especially interested in the liquorice — I would pull them apart and eat the sugary sections instead.

That memory found its way into this white still life of stacked stones, a beachcombed stick and scattered allsorts. I liked the contrast from the beginning: pale, weathered forms interrupted by those small bursts of colour and sweetness.

Once the photograph was complete, I kept working on it. I printed the image, drew a quilted pattern across one of the stones, added crystals to the sweets, then photographed those interventions and worked them back into the original image.

The result sits somewhere between still life and something slightly imagined — stone becoming soft, candy becoming jewel-like, and familiar objects slipping just far enough from reality to keep revealing something new.

Each artwork is printed on Ilford GALERIE Prestige Smooth Pearl, 310gsm, a heavyweight photographic paper with a softly lustrous semi-gloss finish.

I chose this paper for the way it holds fine photographic detail and rich colour while keeping reflections softer than a high-gloss print.

Fine Art Prints that include a white border are designed that way as part of the artwork presentation. The selected size refers to the full dimensions of the printed sheet, including the border.

Framed works are handmade in Sydney and arrive ready to hang.

Choose from Black, White or Natural Oak. Each frame has a clean gallery-style profile measuring 2 cm wide × 4 cm deep.

The artwork is protected behind UV-resistant Shinkolite Perspex and backed with 5 mm acid-free adhesive foamcore.

The work is presented without a mat, allowing the image to sit cleanly within the frame. Where a white border is included, it forms part of the artwork itself and is not a framing option.

Each Fine Art Print is made to order in Sydney, with free standard delivery Australia-wide.

As a guide, allow approximately 1–2 weeks for metro areas, 2–3 weeks for regional areas, and 3–4 weeks for WA, NT and TAS. Tracking is provided once your order has been dispatched.

Because each print is made specifically for your order, I don’t generally accept returns or exchanges for change of mind.

If your artwork arrives damaged, faulty or incorrect, please contact me as soon as possible with your order number and photos of the artwork and packaging. I’ll work with you to arrange the appropriate remedy.
