I made Lived-In about the peace that arrives the moment composure stops being the goal.

This piece started as a precision still life of rose and stone. After printing, I covered the entire background by hand, stamping it with smiley faces one at a time.

I've never fully believed that fulfillment comes from flawlessness — I just hadn't tested it yet. This piece was the test. I'm a perfectionist by nature, so the crooked faces made me wince at first, each one feeling like proof I was undoing something I'd worked hard to get right. I kept stamping anyway, trusting the belief over the wince. By the time the last face went down, what looked back at me wasn't ruined. It was a rich tapestry of life — dense, textured, unmistakably lived-in.
