For me, Ravens have long carried the myth of the messenger - intelligent, watchful, and discerning.
In this still life work, the cheese and chip offering is left out for an imaginary raven, in the hope that it will be tempted enough to leave behind wisdom as an exchange.
My work often begins with forms and gestures drawn from the natural world, then shifts into something more emotional and symbolic. In this piece, the raven opened up a way to think about instinct, agency and internal knowing.
