Velvet, ruffles and things arranged neatly: a combination of my favorite things.
This work brings together a collection of objects and handwritten notes, like a form of self-documentation.
Much of my work begins with emotional states translated through symbolic form. For this piece I was interested in the relationship between reflection and collection - how insight is not always neat or linear, but often built from kept fragments. Usually that sort of processing isn't given much weight, but I believe in it's value, which is why I wanted this piece to feel a little luscious. Printed on dusty pink velvet, I let the work take on more presence and be allowed to be theatrical and immersive.
